Sources before confidence

How we check the edited article.

A separate workflow checks the edited headline, summary and article against freshly retrieved publisher evidence. It cannot approve a claim just because the writer sounded confident.

What happens before publication

  1. Find an important event from a club, league, governing body or established publisher.
  2. Retrieve the underlying report, establish the club and competition, and edit a source-bound draft.
  3. Run the separate checker. Every sentence needs a verdict; factual claims need source-linked evidence.
  4. Hold unsupported claims, conflicting reports, failed retrievals and outdated checks. Editing a checked draft invalidates its previous pass.
  5. Approve the exact checked version. Financial trouble, ownership, allegations and other sensitive reporting still need individual human approval.

What a pass does—and does not—mean

A pass means the copy matches the retrieved evidence at the stated time. A published source can itself be wrong or later corrected. Different stages can share a model’s blind spots; AI checking is not a guarantee of truth.

Fixtures are not marked completed because a date has passed. Tables, results and club details carry their sources and checked dates. Older news remains accessible as dated reporting; unsourced legacy pieces are labelled as archive material.
